David BALDASSIN

IT Engineer, PhD

About Me

I am a software engineer with specialties in system and network programming. I have a background in computer science and engineering, and I have a strong interest in the low-tech movement. I am currently working as a post-doctoral researcher at CNRS in Nice Sophia Antipolis.

I am currently working on a research on sustainability and sufficiency for the IT infrastructure.

Here are a few technologies I've been working with recently:
  • WebRTC
  • Node / Deno
  • Virtual Machines
  • QUIC
  • Docker
  • C/C++/Rust/Typescript

Education

2021 - 2025
PhD in computer science : System and Network performances for WebRTC
Université cÎte d'Azur, Sophia Antipolis

Main topics :

  • Study the portability of WebRTC on the QUIC protocol, specially the interactions between their congestion controller (see the publication)
  • Reclaiming the unused memory from virtual machines using generic and non intrusive techniques for the guest OS while maintaining the quality of service for a real-time application (see the publication).
2015 - 2020
IT Engineering degree
Institut Supérieur d'Informatiques de Modélisation et de leurs Applications (ISIMA), Clermont-Ferrand
  • Specialty in embedded software

  • Extracurricular Activities:

    • Co-founder of the Jam des Volcans, a global game jam antenna in Clermont Ferrand.

C++ System Network
Remote Shared Controller
A software that allow you to share devices (keyboard, mouse) accross different machines. You can configure whether the other machine are left or right to your machine (which have the devices connected), and when you go out of the screen you can control the other machine wiht mouse and keyboard. Works on Linux and Windows.
Metronome tabata
Node Javascript
Metronome tabata
Metronome web app that allows you to configure workout to train rythm, the same way a tabata works for sports (i.e. HIIT). Very effective to train downpicking for instance.
